Military Infertility - Job-Related Hazards Factor
An understudied outcome of many military jobs across all military branches, is damage to future fertility. Military training and deployment physical demands, lack of sleep, and chemical and radiation exposures can all potentially cause fertility issues for both men and women, but there is a dearth of research on this.
The Congressional Research Office did a report in April 2020 that mentioned that “Active duty female service-members in health care occupations had the highest incidence followed by pilots and air crew. Health care personnel may be more likely to seek care, while pilots and air crew may be at higher risk due to radiation or physical job demands.”
Military male infertility is even less studied, but watch this space for more info on research.
